Terms & Conditions for the GE Energy School Smart Challenge
  1. Information on how to enter and participating details form part of these conditions.
  2. The GE Energy School Smart Challenge commences on 28th February 2008 and ends on 31 November 2008.
  3. Schools must be registered by an authorised officer of the school.
  4. Registration is required to be made by an authorised officer of the school providing GE with official school enrollment numbers no later than 30 October 2008.
  5. The rate of donation for all purchases of globes made during the 2008 program will be:
    a. $0.20 inc GST, per globe from the GE Energy Smart Spiral twin packs (purchased from Woolworths); and
    b. $0.50 inc GST, per globe from the Entice 6 Pack (purchased directly from the GE Energy Smart School Challenge website).
  6. The rate of donation for all purchases of globes directly from the GE Energy Smart School Challenge website made on or before 14 December 2007 will be $0.50 per globe. Any points accumulated by schools for purchases during 2007 will carry forward to the school’s 2008 points balance.
  7. Neither GE nor Woolworths will be held responsible for purchases that are incorrectly validated or schools that are incorrectly nominated.
  8. Donations will be forwarded to the relevant participating schools no later than 19 December 2008.
  9. The formula used to calculate school points is 0.5 tons of CO2 per individual globe; this formula will be applied to all purchases for both 2007 and 2008.
  10. The “average tons removed per student” is calculated as follows;
    a. (Total Globes purchased multiplied by 0.5) divided by the schools official school enrollment numbers as at February 2008 (as notified to GE).
  11. Based on the calculations above;
    a. The school with the highest national average of average tons removed per student will receive a $10,000 (inc GST) donation to its P&C committee.
    b. The State that the National winning school comes from will be deemed to have no state winner.
    c. In each other State the school with the highest state average of average tons removed per student will receive a donation of $5,000 (inc GST) to its P&C committee.
  12. The States are defined as follows;
    i. Queensland
    ii. NSW (incorporating the ACT)
    iii. Victoria
    iv. Tasmania
    v. South Australia (incorporating the Northern territory)
    vi. Western Australia
  13. GE reserves the right to disqualify entries in the event of non-compliance with these terms and conditions.
  14. GE reserves the right to with-hold all individual school donations pending audit verification from Woolworths.
  15. GE’s decision in relation to any aspect of the GE Energy School Smart Challenge is final and binding on each participant. No correspondence will be entered into. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost or misdirected entries.
  16. GE will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss) or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the GE Energy School Smart Challenge.
  17. GE accepts no responsibility for any tax liabilities that may arise from the GE Energy School Smart Challenge.
  18. All amounts are expressed in Australian dollars.
  19. GE reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time in its absolute discretion and without notice to participants.
